Take Care® VISA Cards

The take care VISA cards have arrived at your home address. If you are a current participant in a flexible spending account for either health care and/or dependent care; or if you are eligible for the health reimbursement account (HRA), then you would have received a VISA card. The card is already active and ready for you to use. In order to manage your account information, you will need to register. Please see the following link for information on how to register.

	Flu Season Under way, Forced to Miss Work? As the seasons change, influenza cases rise. Please note that the Health Center is now offering flu shot clinics and vaccines to all employees. If you do get sick, please take note of the university's policy for sick leave and leave of absence or call 227-2331, with any additional questions.
	Obtaining W-2 Forms NMU employees can now acquire their W-2 forms. They are available online and in the HR office. If you signed up for an electronic copy, click here and go to the Tax Information link. Paper copies can be picked up in the Human Resources Office, room 158 of the Service Building. W-2 forms not picked up during this time will be mailed prior to January 31.
	Personal Services Contract Guidelines Need extra help? NMU departments can supplement the current work force by hiring individuals through personal services contracts. There are several important guidelines about when and how independent contractors may be hired. Full Story
	Staff Awards Program The HR Department is pleased to announce that nominations for the staff award programs are being accepted for the 2011-2012 academic year. The deadline date for the Excellence in Service Award, Distinguished Team Award and the TLC Award nominations is Sunday, February 5. Award descriptions and nomination forms can be found here.
	2011-2012 NMU Essential Personnel Positions University Essential Personnel Positions have been determined by supervisors and based on this status those employees are required to report to work during times in which the University deems it necessary to close for inclement weather or any other reason.

Blue Cross Blue Shield Connection
The Blue Cross Blue Shield Connection allows employees access to resources that help them stay healthy, get healthier, and manage illness. Get access to health assessments, online health coaching, a 24-hour nurse line, chronic condition and disease management skills, a program that assists in quitting smoking and more.
