The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has declared a state of public health emergency in the United States as a preventative measure to try to control the spread of the swine flu virus after deaths from the virus were reported in Mexico. Cases of swine flu are being investigated in several countries around the world, including the United States, although most of those in the U.S. have not been as severe as those in Mexico to date.
