Swine Flu? Things to Know

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has declared a state of public health emergency in the United States as a preventative measure to try  to control the spread of the swine flu virus after deaths from the virus were reported in Mexico. Cases of swine flu are being investigated in several countries around the world, including the United States, although most of those in the U.S. have not been as severe as those in Mexico to date. There are some very simple things you can do to help protect yourself from the virus.  Learn more

Classification Changes Implemented

NMU has implemented some changes to the job classification process for two employee  groups. According to Ann Sherman, director of Human Resources,  these changes are being implemented to improve communications and credibility. “Implementing these new changes should eliminate the secrecy of the job evaluation process." NMU now offers an instant text-messaging program to alert students, faculty and staff to on-campus emergencies. Members of the campus community may also register family members to receive the same alerts. Full story
