The featured speaker for the 2012 Elect Her Conference will be U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow of Michigan, who will speak via video conference.
Senator Debbie Stabenow has never stopped fighting for Michigan families. She grew up in Clare, where her family ran the neighborhood Oldsmobile dealership and her mom worked as a nurse at the local hospital. In 2000, she was elected as Michigan’s first woman Senator.
As Chairwoman of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee, she is a leading voice for Michigan’s agriculture industry, which accounts for one out of four jobs in our state. She also serves on the other key economic committees in the Senate, including the Finance, Energy, and Budget Committees.
Among her many accomplishments, she has cut taxes for small businesses and passed initiatives to revitalize our manufacturing sector. She is working hard to make sure the UP continues to be a leader in forestry and biomass production.
Whether she’s fighting to support Marquette General’s Telehealth system, bringing new equipment for our fire department, or protecting the Great Lakes, she always stands up for us. Learn more about Senator Stabenow on her official website.
The 2010 keynote speaker was Jocelyn Benson, an assistant professor of law at Wayne State University Law School and a candidate in 2010 for Michigan Secretary of State.
