The 24-hour Technical course qualifies people for the Occasional Site Worker level for work on known or potentially contaminated sites.

The 40-hour Full Initial course is for General Site Workers on known or potentially contaminated sites.  It also meets classroom and instructional requirements for Supervisors.

General Site Worker (initial certification) —40 hours (5 days), designed to prepare an individual to work on contaminated sites. Typical attendees include heavy equipment operators, supervisors, laborers, surveyors, consultants, inspectors, and others who may work on potentially contaminated sites.

Occasional Site Worker  - 24-hour initial classes are available for certain limited exposures.

Training Topics include development and implementation of a site specific Health and Safety Plan, personal protective equipment, identification of hazards; decontaminations; MSDSs and chemical guidebooks; air monitoring; emergency response and other topics designed to allow employees to work safely and effectively on contaminated sites. Training will include hands-on practice with personal protective equipment. The initial course includes a hands-on emergency response drill.

HAZWOPER Emergency Responder certification is also available. These classes enable an employee to respond to hazardous material emergencies within the limitations of their employer’s emergency response policies. This certification is typically appropriate at facilities that use or store hazardous materials. Because of their site-specific nature, advance planning is required.
