At USOEC since 2005

Tricia Stennes grew up on ice in St. Paul, Minn.  She joined the U.S. Olympic Education Center resident short track speedskating program in 1989.  Stennes had a successful short track career, earning positions on five World Teams and making two trips to the Olympic Winter Games.

She retired from skating in 1994, but remained connected to the sport through U.S. Speedskating coach training camps.  Stennes was approached to join the USOEC as an assistant coach in 2005.

In 2006, U.S. Speedskating selected her to serve as the Junior World Team’s head coach.  The position provided her the opportunity to coach the country’s elite, up-and-coming athletes at the Junior World Championships in Romania.

She was selected again to be the Junior World Team's head coach in 2008 at the Junior World Championships in Italy.

She graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1991 and Northern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1997.  Following graduation, Stennes worked at the Marquette-Alger Regional Education Service Agency.
