B.J. Stupak Scholarship

The B.J. Stupak Olympic Scholarship Program is a federally funded grant program designed to provide financial assistance to a select group of Olympic-aspiring student athletes.

The program is named in honor of Michigan Congressman Bart Stupak's son who died tragically while still in high school in May 2000.

Congressman Stupak has been instrumental in getting this scholarship program authorized and funded by Congress.

The program was created in 1998 and since that date has helped over 376 athletes continue their education while training for elite athletic competition. These 376 people were given a total of 1,329 awards, so the average student athlete was awarded an Olympic scholarship 3.5 times.
