Women's Ice Hockey

The NMU Women's Club Hockey team was established in 2000.  We are a part of the CCWHA (Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association), which includes Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Western Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, Ohio State University and Lindenwood University. We are also a part of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association). This league includes all the CCWHA teams, as well as others from around the country, and hosts the National Tournament every year.

Dues
Dues are about $1200 depending on the number of girls playing. The team does offer opportunities for fundraising and sponsorship. This covers all ice time, league dues, referees and travel costs. In addition, players are expected to purchase warm-ups and pay for their meals on road trips. Members are also required to purchase a PEIF pass for the year.

Participants Must Supply
All of their own hockey equipment: Helmet must be black and the team can help find equipment if needed. Jerseys, pant covers, socks and bags are  provided by the team.

Travel
Includes Michigan Tech in Houghton, downstate Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, and Minnesota.  The team often travels on Fridays, so if possible we recommend that players do not schedule Friday classes. The league requires a cumulative GPA of 2.0 be maintained.

Tryouts
We encourage anyone with a hard working, positive attitude to try out and see what we are all about. Tryouts are held in the beginning of September.

Practice
The team plays at the Berry Events Center. We play between 20-25 games per season and practice three nights a week on the ice.
Monday at 11:30 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 p.m.
We also have off-ice practice twice a week.
