NMU Lacrosse Takes Second


Northern Michigan Univesity, 5 - Loyola, 4

The first game of the season, Northern Michigan played Loyola University. They were pumped and ready to go for the first action of the year. Northern Michigan University had five different contributing goal scorers including freshman midfielder, Eddy Sindles who scored the game winning goal to edge Loyola. Goals scored by Kyle Kelly-Pepich, Eddy Sindel, Ryan Cherry, Brian Buchek, Michael Ambrozy.


Northern Michigan University, 9 - Northern Illinois University, 3
Northern Michigan University found themselves one win away from making it to the championship of the tournament in their match against Northern Illinois University. With a slow start to the offense of the game, the defense had to pick up the slack and play extra tight. Ryan Cherry ignited the offense with a rap around score from behind the goal. Ryan Cherry and Michael Ambrozy led the offensive attack with three goals each while Kyle Kelly-Pepich fed them with four assists. Goals scored by Ryan Cherry 3, Michael Ambrozy 3, Kyle Kelly-Pepich, Sean Mandle, Todd Zimmerman.


Northern Michigan University, 4 - Bowling Green, 6
Northern Michigan grinded their way to  the championship game of the Northern Illinois University fall classic against Bowling Green State University. Defensive play from Glen Hutchinson and goalie Todd Zimmerman kept the game close until the offense could pull it together. A great ride by the attack man Ryan Cherry forced Bowling Green’s goalie to turn the ball over into the stick of Kyle Kelly-Pepich who scored an open goal. Kyle Kelly-Pepich had two more goals which were fast breaks started by Erich Smith a long pole middy and midfielder Brian Buchek. Time became a factor when Northern Michigan was down by two goals with five minutes left and they couldn’t make the come back. Northern Michigan took second place in the tournament and had a good start to the year. Goals scored by Kyle Kelly-Pepich 3, Michael Ambrozy.
