Figure Skating

The Northern Michigan University  Figure Skating Club (FSC) allows interested students the opportunity to skate  individually or on a synchronized skating team but also encourages recreational involvement.  Individual skaters can compete in freestyle and/or dance.  The club has had continued success at Midwestern Intercollegiate Figure Skating Competitions. There are approximately three competitions each year at the collegiate level in our region. The synchronized skating team also performs between periods at NMU Division I Hockey games.

Dues
Approximately $200 for ice time (depends on how many individuals join the club). Members are also required to purchase a PEIF pass for the year.

Participants Must Supply
Skates, team dress and other apparel (will be ordered through the team and some is optional), USFSA membership, competition fees and travel fees (hotel, gas, etc).

Travel
The team travels to two or three collegiate competitions each year as well as synchronized skating competitions around the Midwest.

Practice
Practices are held Sunday evenings, Monday mornings, and Tuesday evenings, beginning in September in the Berry Events Center.

Individual Skating
· Open to recreational and competitive skaters
· Beginners are welcome
· Skaters have the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level
· There are two sessions of ice per week for individual practice
· Lessons are not included, however, you can hire a coach through the Marquette Figure Skating Club

Synchronized Skating Team
· Ice time fees automatically include two synchro practices each week, and all individual ice times.
