Frequently Asked Questions about NMUFSC

How do I join the NMU Figure Skating Club?

We hold informational meetings at the beginning of each school year for anyone who is interested. At the meetings current club members will let you know what the team is like.  You can also meet other interested skaters and ask any questions you have. You may contact us any time during the season for information by e-mailing the contact on the general information page.

How much does it cost to be on the team?

All members of the NMUFSC must pay annual dues. The dues will be decided each year by the NMUFSC board dependent on ice costs, fundraising and the amount of money allotted to the NMUFSC by the Sport Club Association each year.

In an average season, each synchronized team member is required to pay $300 to the NMUFSC for ice costs.  Synchronized team fees include individual ice as well.  Membership dues for skaters choosing only to skate individually average $200 each season.  Each member is also required to pay dues to U.S. Figure Skating for a home club membership to the club of their choice, however, all members must be home club or associate members of the Marquette Figure Skating Club.

Additional costs throughout the year are for a team dress, a team jacket, and travel expenses including gas and hotel. A team dress and jacket is required only for those members planning to compete in team events or perform in the ice show. Team parkas and pants are optional. Synchronized skating team dresses are also an additional cost.  The NMUFSC will defray these costs as much as possible.
