’Cat Nips: Lettered twice after appearing in 72 games with 25 points on seven goals and 18 assists. Will don No. 5 again for 2009-10 after wearing No. 27 in 2007-08. Named a captain for the 2009-10 team after being an assistant captain for past two seasons. Shoots left.

2008-09:  Picked up second letter by skating in 28 games. One of the assistant captains on the team. Had a four-game point streak from 2/27-3/7/09 (2-4-6) for a career high. Had two multi-point games against Lake Superior State (2/27) when he had a goal and an assist and against Michigan State (3/7) with two assists.

2007-08:  Picked up first letter by playing in 44 games. One of the assistant captains on the team.  Tallied first NMU point on an assist against Western Michigan (11/10/07). Had two assists for two points against Lake Superior (11/23/07). Scored first NMU goal against Sacred Heart at 15:40 of the third period and also had an assist during the game. Had a three-game assist streak for a career high from 12/28-1/4/08 with a line of 1-3-4. Named as NMU’s CCHA scholar-athlete.

Before NMU:  Played collegiately at Alaska Anchorage in 2005-06. Had eight points on four goals and four assists. Two of the goals were on the power play. Played two seasons of junior hockey with the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL. Had 32 points in 2004-05 with 14 goals and 18 assists. For 2003-04 had 22 points on 10 goals and 12 assists. Spent 2002-03 with the U.S. National Development Team. 

Personal:  A 2004 graduate of Ashwaubenon High School. Likes to fish, hunt and watch his favorite teams play. Captain of a salmon fishing boat. Majoring in entrepreneurship. Son of Kathlene and Chuck Smith. Born on August 1, 1986.
