‘Cat Nips: Shoots right.

Before NMU:  Played junior hockey with the Traverse City North Stars (2006-07), Waterloo Black Hawks (2007-08) and the Lincoln Stars (2008-09).  Had 22 points with Traverse City (6-16) in 61 games.  In 2008-09 collected 17 points with Lincoln (7-10) to earn team’s most improved award.

Personal:  A 2007 graduate of Sault Area High School.  Majoring in finance.  Son of Bonnie and Michael Kaunisto.  Uncle, Joe Shawhan, played hockey for Lake Superior State and was an assistant coach with the Lakers and is currently the director of hockey operations for NMU. Brother, Ray, is currently a member of team.  Born on March 27, 1989.
