‘Cat Nips:  Appeared in 40 games and tallied 17 (9-8) points during his freshman season to earn first letter. Was invited to the 2009 U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y.  Shoots left. 

2008-09:  Lettered for the first time after appearing in 40 games.  Picked up first collegiate point against Notre Dame (11/1) on an assist.  Scored first collegiate goal at 14:17 of the third period against Ferris State (11/28); he also had an assist for first multi-point game of career.  Scored two goals at Wisconsin (1/2) for a career high.  Had a three-game point streak for a career high (1-3-4) from 3/6-13.  Two-game assist streak against  Michigan State (3/6-7), a career high (0-3-3).  Recorded three multi-point games. Awarded the Don Waddell Best Freshman Award.     

Before NMU:  Played in the U.S. National Team system for two seasons (2006-08).  Played for the U-17 team in 2006-07 and had 32 (21-11) points.  Led the team in goals.  Tallied 16 (8-8) points with the U-18 team.  Member of the bronze medal-winning team at the 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 World Championships.

Personal:  A 2008 graduate of Ann Arbor Pioneer High School.  Undecided on major.  Likes to hunt and fish.  Son of Donna and Tom Florek.  Born on May 18, 1990.
