2006:  Lettered for the first time.  Hauled in three passes for 15 yards and one score.  Had one kickoff return for 11 yards.

2005: Redshirted.

High School: Lettered three times in football at Freedom High School under John Dobyns. Second-team all-conference. MVP field event athlete in track. First-team all-conference in track.

Personal: Hobbies include hunting, fishing and cars. Majoring in physical education. Son of Rick Merckx and Jenny and John Hermans. Born on October 23, 1986.
