Tom Wender enters his third season on the Northern Michigan University football staff. He will coach the inside linebackers. Wender spent the 2005 season at Saginaw Valley State University as the special teams coordinator/outside linebackers coach. He spent 21 seasons (1984-04) at Iron Mountain High School, where he was the head football coach. Wender compiled an overall record of 170-55 with the Mountaineers. He led his teams to 15 playoff appearances, 11 mid- Peninsula Conference championships, three state finals appearances and two state titles in 1993 and 2000. Wender retired from the prep ranks after the 2004 season. He is a 1968 graduate of Kingsford High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial arts from NMU in 1972.
