Wildcat Cheerleading and Dance Teams

Cheerleading

The Wildcat Cheerleading squad is a coed unit who rock the Superior Dome and Berry Events Center with team spirit during Northern basketball, football and hockey games.

The NMU team has qualified for nationals three times and has placed in several Midwest competitions.  The team focuses on crowd involvement, mounts, gymnastics and partner stunting. 

Next try-out opportunity: August 31, September 1, September 3 from 5:30-8 p.m. PEIF gym 150.

Dance Team

The NMU Dance Team is made up of dedicated and talented young women who wish to represent the university in a positive and spirited manner.  The team has a very diverse training background; members have been trained in dance genres ranging from classical ballet to hip-hop, participated in cheerleading, gymnastics, kick lines, and elite pompon programs.  This diversity makes our team remarkable, as we are able draw on each others' strengths to succeed.  As a team we have the opportunity to perform at select home football games, home volleyball games, home men's and women's basketball games, and various university and community functions. Through performances, appearances, and volunteer activities, the Northern Michigan University Dance Team serves as NMU ambassadors.
