NMU-MTU  Miner’s Cup 2008

Continuing a U.P. rivalry going back to 1920, Northern defends the Miner’s Cup trophy playing Michigan Tech 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18.

This year’s game will be nationally televised on CBS College Sports Network and Pack the PlaceFOX-Detroit.  Help us pack the Superior Dome and show off our Upper Peninsula pride while cheering on the ‘Cats.

Green and Gold Day

Thursday, Sept. 18 has been declared Green and Gold Day in the city of Marquette. Mayor Tom Tourville proclaimed Green and Gold Day, which will take place on Sept. 18, the day of the nationally televised NMU football game against Michigan Tech at the Superior Dome. (taken from the Mining Journal)

‘Cat Fans

Individual tickets are available at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets.  Family, group and season ticket packages are available before the game. We are anticipating a capacity crowd and encourage buying your tickets in advance.

Wildcat fansFans with questions about tickets and/or to purchase tickets should contact the NMU Ticket Office in the Superior Dome at 906-227-1032. Ticket office hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday.

A picnic dinner will be available at the Dome. NMU Dining Services is providing a cookout before the game 4-7:30 p.m.  Meal prices are $6.95 for adults, $4.50 for kids 3-12 and free for children under 3 years. Picnic information.

If you're out of town, join one of the many watch parties hosted  by the NMU Alumni Association. Several of the parties will be held in conjunction with the MTU Alumni Association, so you can take the rivalry on the road!

NMU Students

We want to show the whole U.S. how we rock the U.P.  Bring your NMU ID for FREE admission to the game.  We’re going to let the CBS College Sports Net and FOX-Detroit audience see an ocean of green and gold. 

Show your Wildcat spirit!
Organize a cheer, make signs, paint your faces and have a blast.  We encourage you to sit as a group and wear colorful shirts. Please let us know if your student organization, residence hall house or other group are planning any activities. The Center for Student Enrichment has some ideas to get you started. We will post a list  and will work to promote your activity and organization.

We’re all for enthusiasm, but please remember sportsmanship is everyone’s responsibility.You stay classy, NMU.

Grab dinner at the Dome, too. The Marketplace will be CLOSED Thursday evening.  Meal plan participants can bring their NMU ID and eat at the picnic supper for no charge.  Meals will still be served at the Wildcat Den in the UC. Extended serving hours at Temaki and Tea and at Fieras will be posted. Picnic information.

High School Students

Smiling Wildcat fansProspective NMU students are invited, along with one guest, to attend this game for free. You must call in advance to reserve your ticket. Complementary tickets for high school students are limited, so reserve yours early by calling 1-800-682-9797 and press "1" for Admissions.

We'll ask you your name, high school, e-mail address and year in school--and record whether you would like one ticket or two. NMU admissions staff and students will be there to greet you at the game.
