"To improve the human condition by enhancing the health of the research enterprise, fostering integrity in science and engineering, and promoting the public's understanding of science".
The NMU chapter won this award for hosting the Howard Hughes Holiday Lectures on Science as Webcasts on campus. These lectures have been shown on campus since 2005 with the 2008 program focused on neurobiology.
