Chemistry Placement for BSN Majors

If you are a declared nursing major, you will need to take a Chemistry 109 readiness test to determine whether you are prepared to enroll in CH 109.  If your test score indicates you are prepared for CH 109, follow these steps for registering: Completion of CH 109 with a C- grade or higher meets the nursing department chemistry prerequisite requirement.

If your test score indicates you are not prepared to enroll in CH 109, then enroll in CH 107.  Students who enroll in CH 107 must also take CH 108 and earn a grade of C- or higher in each to meet the nursing department chemistry prerequisite requirement.

Practicing for the Chemistry 109 Readiness Test
If you are interested in practicing before you actually take the Chemistry 109 Readiness Test, please take a practice test.  Complete the practice test using only your own core knowledge and after you have completely finished it, then click here to find the correct answers.  Do not just go to the answer sheet first to “study” as this will not give you either the practice you need at thinking through the problems or an assessment of how much more you need to study before taking the actual pre-placement test.

Taking the Chemistry 109 Readiness Test
Once you believe you are prepared to take the tes,t log on to http://webct.nmu.edu. The ID is ne-chem and the password is student. Your results will be sent to the Chemistry and Nursing Departments and you will be able to discuss the results with an academic adviser during orientation. If you have any questions, please contact the Nursing Department at 906-227-2834.
