It takes as little as three semesters to earn a certificate in practical nursing from NMU. Upon completion of the program you'll be qualified to take the practical nursing licensure exam and start working in the field. Practical nursing is a rewarding career of caring for people and utilizing technical skills in a wide variety of health-care settings. Although hospitals employ a large number of licensed practical nurses, nursing homes, doctors' offices, industrial firms and other health agencies also provide jobs.
The Practical Nursing Department is committed to providing a quality learning experience, using the latest technology to educate technical nurses who are caring, competent, lifelong learners prepared for diverse and changing environments.
The program is approved by the Michigan State Department of Vocational Education and the Michigan Board of Nursing.
