Admission to the Master of Science in Nursing Program

NMU Admission - College Of Graduate Studies

Students must first be admitted to the College of Graduate Studies. Submit a completed NMU application for admission by July 1 to the College of Graduate Studies, 610 Cohodas, along with a $50 application fee, or to the School of Nursing, Northern Michigan University, 1401 Presque Isle Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855. Send official transcripts from all universities previously attended (with the exception of NMU transcripts) directly to the College of Graduate Studies.

Admission to the Master of Science in Nursing Program

To be eligible to apply for admission to the MSN program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Admission to Northern Michigan University
  • Completion of a BSN with a 3.0 GPA from an accredited nursing program
  • Current RN License
  • One year of experience as a professional registered nurse (RN).

The following must be attached to the application:

  • current resume
  • copy of RN license
  • one page description of your goals for graduate study
  • three letters of reference
  • recommendation forms (available online). Suggested sources for recommendations include nurse educators, nurse administrators, nurse practitioners and colleagues from other disciplines who have worked with you.
