Admission into the LPN to BSN Program

For LPN students admitted to the Nursing program fall 2008 or before

Students with an LPN license who request admission to the BSN program, and who have graduated from LPN program within five years of admission into the BSN program and/or who have worked as an LPN within five years of admission into the BSN program, may be granted, without testing, advanced placement credit for: NE201 (4 credits), NE202 (1 credit) and NE204 (2 credits), NE212 (2 credits) and NE222 (3 credits).

NMU graduates will receive general elective credit for PN/AH 102: Growth and Development (3 credits).

LPN student applicants who have not practiced as an LPN and have graduated more than five years prior to admission may be required to successfully complete challenge exams for advance placement credit.

For LPN students admitted after fall 2008

Students must submit a copy of their current LPN license without restrictions prior to acceptance into the BSN program. All other preadmission requirements remain the same.

After fall 2008 all students are required to take the chemistry readiness test.

Advanced placement may be given by School of Nursing; some may require challenge examinations:

Transfer Nursing Credits

The number of nursing credits accepted from an associated degree will be determined by the actual number of nursing credits in that particular program. In no case will we accept more than 43 nursing credit hours toward the BSN nursing degree.

This means that some transfer students will not receive the full 43 credit hours of transfer credit for their nursing courses. These students will need to take additional nursing course electives to make up the deficiency.
