During the two-year time spent disassembling the former historic McCormick Grand Camp, Richard Hendricksen recorded notes and kept an ongoing journal documenting the trials and tribulations of his mission, while also expressing his thoughts and emotions at the time. One might wonder why the Grand Camp was disassembled. What was it like? Why was it special? Why is it stored? This presentation is designed to ‘capture the spirit of White Deer Lake (WDL).’ Along with visuals, artifacts and background piano music of choice for the occasion, Richard will share some compassionate stories about his work and the Camp, explore the historical value and significance of the Grand Camp, along with reflecting on his feelings about the project which have now been compiled and interpreted in his forthcoming book about the McCormick Grand Camp. A partial tribute to Fred Rydholm will also shine through within this presentation.
