In the 1980s, Northern Michigan University created the Performing Arts Series to bring internationally recognized performers to campus. Since that time, dozens of legendary musicians have performed as part of this series. In 2006, the name and focus of the series was changed to the International Performing Arts Series, dedicated to bringing the best world music performers to Marquette and the Upper Peninsula. The series is co-sponsored by grants from the Finn Grand Fest Foundation at NMU and the MEEMIC Foundation.
Performances will be held at one of three venues: Kaufman Auditorium at Graveraet School, Forest Roberts Theatre or the Great Lakes Rooms, Don H. Bottum University Center.
