H1N1 Vaccination

The NMU Health Center will offer 2009 H1N1 nasal spray flu vaccine to NMU staff and students who prefer and are eligible for this form of vaccine from 1:30-3:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, in the lower level of the Harden Learning Resources Center. 

This vaccine is only approved for persons less than age 50 yrs old without chronic health conditions. The injectable H1N1 flu vaccine, which can be given to anyone, will be available in the near future. The vaccine will be provided free of charge.

Persons in the following categories should not receive the nasal spray vaccine:

• Those aged 50 years and older.
• Pregnant women.
• Anyone with a weakened immune system.
• Anyone with a long-term health problem such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, kidney or liver disease.
• Anyone who has had a severe allergic reaction to eggs.
