NMU’s Forest Roberts Theatre

Welcome to the Forest Roberts Theatre on the campus of Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Mich.

The Forest Roberts Theatre is a facility described by many visiting artists as one of the finest university theatres in the country.  It accommodates 550 people in a continental seating arrangement and has its own storage areas, shops, make-up and costume facilities, electrical and scene shops, and dressing rooms.

The theatre puts on five main stage productions each season, along with the annual run of the holiday classic Ebenezer Scrooge and several black box theatre performances. One of the main stage productions is the debut of the winner of  NMU’s annual international playwriting contest.

The facility is used as the classroom for many courses in Northern’s theatre academic degree programs. It is also used by university student departments and organizations for special theatrically related programming events.

Theatre majors and non-majors alike, along with NMU faculty and staff and Marquette area community members, have graced the Forest Roberts Theatre stage over the decades.  The NMU theatre faculty and staff take great pride in the success of its many alumni who have gone on to perform professionally on stage and in television and broadcasting.

Great opportunities – for acting, employment, entertainment – about at Forest Roberts Theatre.  We hope you will join in activities soon.
