Before you register for First Year Experience, read the following information regarding placement tests for:

Chemistry Courses

If you are registering for a block that has a chemistry class, you must take the Math Placement Test (MPT) to be sure you meet the pre-requisites for the course. The MPT can be found at the following web site: http://math.nmu.edu/. Click on "Math Placement Exam" and follow the directions for taking the test.

If you want to take:
CH 105 - you must have a math placement recommendation of MA 100 or higher.

CH 107 - you must have a math placement recommendation of MA 100. One year of high school chemistry is recommended.

CH 109 - you must have a math placement recommendation of MA 100 and one year of high school chemistry. If you are registering for a nursing block and do not qualify for CH 109, you need to register for block 33.

CH 111 - Math placement recommendation of MA 105 and one year of high school chemistry.

Math Courses

If you are registering for a block that has a mathematics class, you must take the Math Placement Test (MPT) to be sure you meet the pre-requisites for the course. The MPT can be found at the following web site: http://math.nmu.edu/. You will receive your results immediately.

Languages

If you are registering for a block that has a language in it (i.e. French, Spanish, German), you must take the Modern Language Placement test to see what level class you are eligible to take. You can find the placement test at the following web site: http://webb.nmu.edu/Departments/ModernLanguages/. Once you are at the site, click on "Programs" from the top menu and then click on "Placement Information" and follow the directions for the test. There is also a practice test that you can take beforehand.
