Repeat Courses

According to the Federal Student Aid Handbook:  Students may generally receive Federal student aid funds for retaking coursework and the credits may be included in the total number of credits that the student is taking when determining enrollment status, as long as the school gives the student additional credit for the repeated course and the student is making satisfactory academic progress.  Generally, schools do not give a student credit for repeating a course to earn a better grade, unless the student fails a course the first time and receives no credit for the failure.

However, if a student is required to repeat a course to meet a graduation requirement of the University or the academic department, this course may be included in the consideration of enrollment for financial aid purposes, even if credit had previously been earned.  If this is the case, an "Academic Adviser Affirmation Form for Repeat Course" would need to be completed and submitted to the Financial Aid Office.
