Going Green at NMU

Northern Michigan University is anticipating LEED Silver Certification for Hunt Hall Renovations.

Campus of the Future

arial of plan

NMU's current campus master plan was developed and adopted by the Board of Trustees in the early 1990s to help guide campus development over the last decade. As demands on the university have evolved throughout the years, a formal review of the plan to develop an updated guide for the next 10 to 15 years was warranted. Progress on the update has been ongoing.

Electronic door access and closed circuit TV/camera systems

Housing and Residence Life is in the process of increasing the security
within all residence halls and Woodland Park Apartments.  A closed
circuit television/camera system has been installed in all of the
residence halls along with a card access system at all perimeter doors.
The door access system will record who has entered when a card is swiped
along with notifying staff when a door has been forced or propped open.
The closed circuit system is installed and operating while the door
access system is planned to be turned on live beginning in January 2009.
