Meet the Faculty

Keith Norton joins NMU's aviation faculty this fall, bringing fifteen years of experience as a pilot, mechanic and maintenance instructor. Norton was attracted to Northern’s location and rural atmosphere and was interested specifically in the aviation department’s relationship with American Eagle. NMU has “a quality aviation program with excellent faculty,” he says.

In addition, Norton has an extensive background in computer science and was intrigued by NMU's support of technology in the classroom. In the future, Norton looks forward to the possibility of using simulation in the classroom. “Not just flight simulation but virtual goggles, which make it possible for students to walk around large aircrafts and see the engines."

Such technology brings hands-on, classroom experiences to another level at NMU. Norton is excited to be among such a dedicated faculty and student body and to contribute to an innovative and growing department.
