All-Campus Tutoring

All-Campus Tutoring provides NMU students free academic support. Tutor-facilitated study groups are available for students enrolled in philosophy courses. A tutor, who has completed the course with the same instructor, helps students with course material, study skills and strategies, and motivation for academic success.

Outstanding Graduate
OConnellDerek O’Connell was selected as the Philosophy Department’s Outstanding Graduating Senior.  He was recognized at the NMU Honors Banquet.  O’Connell, a student leader with the Philosophy Club and tutor, was one of five students to graduate from NMU in 2008-09 with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.   O’Connell profile

Defining "Profession"

Cooper BookcoverProfessor David Cooper’s book "Ethics for Professional's in a Multicultural World" has been featured in such places as the New Hampshire’s 9th Annual Attorney General’s Training Program for State Agencies on Administrative Investigations and Adjudication. There, Professor Cooper used the normative definition of “profession” found in his book to address issues involving the justification of state regulatory boards for both the licensed professions and other types of state-sanctioned regulatory boards.
