Biography and Assignment History

Colonel Kyle A. Rambo is a former resident of Essexville, Michigan and graduated from Essexville Garber High School.  Colonel Rambo earned a Bachelors of Science in Horticulture and Landscape Design from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  He also earned a Masters of Arts degree in Public Administration from Ball State University. 

Colonel Rambo’s military education includes Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Command and Staff Service School, and the Army’s Command and General Staff Collage.  He has completed numerous Army schools to include Airborne School, Bradley Commander’s Course, Light Leader’s Course, and Ranger School.

Colonel Rambo served as Platoon Leader, Anti-Tank Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Assistant Operations Officer in 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado. He then served as Battalion Personnel Officer, Assistant Operations Officer, and Company Commander in 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.  Major Rambo also served as an Observer, Controller, Trainer with 1st Battalion, 335th Training Support Battalion at Indianapolis, Indiana.  He then served as Assistant Professor of Military Science at Michigan Tech University where he later served as the Professor, Military Science Department.  Colonel Rambo deployed in support of Iraqi Freedom from 2005-2006 as Operations Officer for Multi-National Forces- Iraq C-3. Colonel Rambo redeployed and served as the Deputy G-3, Senior Mission Command, Fort Carson, Colorado.  He was then assigned as Operations Officer for 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division.  As the Battalion Operations Officer, Colonel Rambo deployed to Baghdad and Mosul, Iraq in support of Iraqi Freedom 2007-2009.  Colonel Rambo later served as a Transition Team Advisor to the Iraqi Army at the Baghdad Operations Command.

His awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Iraqi Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Ranger Tab, Parachutist Badge, and the Expert Infantryman’s Badge.   

Colonel Rambo is accompanied by his wife Carol and their two sons, Lance and Luke.
