Van Antwerp Hall

Van AntwerpStudents who live in Van Antwerp Hall pride themselves aa being a part of a “Wellness Hall”.  VA is known as “The Wellness Hall” because the atmosphere promotes an overall wellness of mind, body, and spirit. VA also includes one academic house where residents are expected to maintain at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.  As a LEED certified building, Van Antwerp was fully renovated during the summer of 2007 and is being evaluated under the U.S. Green Building Council.  Van Antwerp has a friendly atmosphere where students strongly identify with their communities and express a high level of Wildcat Spirit.  Some traditions students participate in are Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Marquette and the “Van Antwerp Cardboard Castle Competition.”  Van Antwerp has one all male house, one all female house and four co-ed houses, and is building number 74 on the campus map.

NOTE: Due to the type of furniture in Van Antwerp Hall rooms, lofts are not permitted. Loft kits manufactured to fit the beds are available for rent.

Courtney McNeal is originally from Willits, California and received her degree in History with a minor in Educational Studies from Ripon College. While at Ripon, Courtney was involved with the Orientation Committee, Programming Board, and was a Resident Adviser for one year. Courtney was also a member of Ripon's varsity soccer and swim teams. Courtney will be starting her third year as a resident director in Van Antwerp Hall and is also the co-adviser to Primetime Productions. She is currently working on her masters in training and development.

Van Antwerp Hall Traditions

History:

Van Antwerp Hall, opened in 1967, is named after Maude Van Antwerp who taught in NMU’s Education Department for 25 years.
