Spooner Hall

Spooner HallSpooner Hall is centrally located near most of NMU’s facilities. Spooner is a relatively small residence hall that is unique because it specifically houses upperclassmen (junior status or higher), and students 21 years of age or older. Spooner Hall features single rooms and double apartments with kitchenettes. Spooner Hall is all co-ed and is building number 51 on the campus map.

Resident Director – Megan DelBello, 227-2570

Megan DelBelloMegan DelBello, born and raised in Lake City, Michigan, graduated from NMU in 2005 with a degree in Political Science and in 2007 with a degree in Entertainment and Sports Promotion. Megan was a resident adviser for one year in Gant Hall and one year in Spalding Hall, and was the president of Primetime Productions before she became the Resident Director of Spooner Hall in 2007. In her spare time Megan enjoys being outside and traveling, and is an extreme Disney fan!

Spooner Hall Traditions

History:

Spooner Hall, opened in 1955, is named after Charles C. Spooner, a long-time Head of NMU’s mathematics department.

Traditions:

Interesting Facts:

  • Spooner Hall features a mix of single rooms and apartments. 
  • Current Michigan State University men's basketball coach Tom Izzo and former NFL football coach Steve Mariucci were roommates in Gries Hall and Spooner Hall.
  • Each winter, hundreds of bikes are stored in the Spooner Hall basement until the spring thaw.
