Halverson HallWhen walking through Halverson you will experience a high energy, open door community with strong hall identity.  Supporting an open door policy promotes healthy social networking and positive student growth. This encouraging environment helps students create a balance between their social and academic lives.  Halverson is a strong supporter for Women for Women with its two all female houses. The hall is also made up of one all male house and three co-ed houses. Halverson’s reputation makes it more than just a place to live, it’s a family. Halverson Hall is building number 69 on the campus map.

Resident Director – Lindsay Sparks, 227-2515

Lindsay Sparks, born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana, came to NMU from Indiana University. She was a resident adviser for two years and obtained a degree in sports marketing and management with a minor in business.  Lindsay is beginning her fourth year as the resident director of  Halverson Hall and is graduating in May with her masters degree in Training and Development.  She enjoys going to the beach, attending NMU sporting events, and spending time with friends and residents.

Halverson Hall Traditions

History:

Halverson Hall, opened in 1965, is named after Dr. Lynn Halverson, head of NMU’s geography-geology department for many years.

Traditions:

  • Fiesta Frost
  • Drink-N-Think, an annual alcohol awareness program
  • PHest, an annual end of the year program with Payne Hall.

Interesting Facts:

  • Halverson Hall is one of the few halls to have a house still with its original name – Dakota House.
  • The founder of Starbucks, Howard Schultz, lived in Halverson Hall..
