The Housing and Residence Life Office uses its residence hall facilities during the summer months to provide reasonable, comfortable, convenient housing for sports camps and youth group participants, conference participants and campus visitors.

Children
There will be no charge for children of NMU students, college and campus visitors, conference participants, and guests who are 17 years old or younger who stay in the same room as a parent staying in a single room (one child per room) during short term stays. There will be a $5/child/night charge for the additional room for children under the age of 17 years of age staying in the same suite as their parents if their parents are staying in a double occupancy room (maximum of two children per room). Children 18 years old or older will be charged the full rate.
Dining Services Information
Student, campus visitors, and guests may chose a per meal rate, a daily rate, a Dining Dollars or a Block Meal Plan option (these rates are only valid for individual guests dining with us during regular days and hours of operation). Groups, conferences, camps, etc. rates will be assessed based on customer needs and will be required to make arrangements through the office of Catering and Conferences Services.

In addition to the above rates, students, campus visitors and guests may chose a Dining Dollar option by placing any amount they chose on their meal cards to purchase food items on an individually priced basis. The following amounts are recommended for this option: $5 per meal, $15 per day, $75 for a 5-day week and $105 for a 7-day week.

In addition to year-round, on-campus apartment housing, Northern Michigan University provides short-term housing for residence hall and students wishing to take advantage of Summer Session programs, Summer Institute course offerings and the beautiful weather of the area during the summer months. Most short-term housing is provided in Spooner Hall, where students can choose either a one-person room or an efficiency apartment. Short-term one bedroom and two bedroom furnished apartments are also available for families taking advantage of what the university has to offer in the summer.
