Individuals interested in accessing the NMU and Regional Oral History Collection can visit NMU Archives, located on the first floor of the Learning Resource Center. History professor Russell Magnaghi and Northern’s Audio-Visual Department created the collection, which contains numerous interviews documenting the history of NMU and the central Upper Peninsula. The Northern audio collection consists of faculty, staff, alumni and student life interviews. It also contains historical interviews concerning the university and the former J.D. Pierce School. The U.P. oral history collection includes tapes of interviews pertaining to the Ishpeming Ski Hall of Fame, iron mining, local celebrations and events.
