Injury Evaluation and Care Clinic

The Injury Evaluation and Care Clinic will reopen on Monday, August 31 for the fall semester. The clinic provides the University community with a health care opportunity that specializes in the evaluation and primary treatment of sport and physical activity related injuries. The clinic is a free service to NMU students. Clinic hours

	HPER professor Mary Jane Tremethick and nursing professor Eileen Smit, pictured right and left, were honored by the Michigan Campus Compact. The pair was selected for a faculty/staff community service-learning award for their work leading a study abroad program in Santa Cruz de Yojoa, Honduras. The professors lead another group of students to Honduras this past May.

HPER Welcomes Speed Skaters
Sally Olsen, HPER Principal Secretary, and members of the Student Athletic Training Organization (SATO) decorated skates in honor of the U.S. Speedskating ISU World Cup Nov. 12-15 which will be hosted by the United States Olympic Education Center at NMU. 2010 Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports
Northern Michigan University will host the 2010 Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports, July 19-23. An exciting lineup of speakers, workshops and activities are being planned for the Marquette Congress. A call for presenters will go out following the 2009 Congress in Limerick, Ireland. SPORTS AND EXERCISE SCIENCE MAJORS ATTENDED/PRESENTED AT CONFERENCE
Shinya Abe, Sarah Leissring, Jodi Tervo and Mahendran Kaliyamoorthy attended/presented at International Society of Biomechanics in Sports (ISBS). The ISBS is one of of the most important and active organizations of biomechanics in the world. It provides opportunities for scholars to share their new findings and communicate with each other.
