GC295: Special Topics in Geography India’s Golden Triangle
There will be a meeting in room 3710 NSF on Wednesday, September 26 @ 7.00pm for students interested in a geography field trip to India in late February 2008. Details of the itinerary and cost are below. I hope to see some of you on Wednesday evening

- Day - 1 -Thursday, February 28th, Depart Marquette.
- Day - 2 - Friday, February 29th, En route to Delhi.

Day - 4 - Sunday, March 2nd, Depart by car for Jaipur.
- Afternoon: Visit the Pink City of India, including Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) and the Jantar Mantar Observatory. Jaipur is south of Delhi

Day - 5 - Monday, March 3rd, Jaipur - Amber - Fatehpur Sikri – Agra – Agra is east of Jaipur.

Day - 6 - Tuesday, March 4th, Agra - Delhi
- Optional sunrise visit to Taj Mahal. Breakfast at hotel. Visit the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.

Day -7 - Wednesday, March 5th Delhi
- Haridwar- Rishikesh Rishikesh is north of Delhi in the foothills of the Himalayas
- Afternoon visit of Haridwar, the sacred city on the banks of the River Ganges. Witness the Devotional Lamps Ceremony at the Ganges, Aarti, (also known as Har ki Pori) in the evening

Day - 8 - Thursday, March 6th Rishikesh
- Breakfast at hotel. Visit Rishikesh including the main ghat.

- Departure for Delhi by car.
- Transfer to International Airport
- Day 10 - Saturday, March 8th, En route to Marquette

Land portion in India $835 based on 8 students.
- This price includes cost of admission to all monuments, hotels, breakfasts.
- The price excludes the cost of lunch or dinner or spending money.
- Airfare cost is highly variable depending upon the day and time of the week – In the past week (Sept 24-27th) airfare from Marquette to Delhi as low as $1250 and as high as $1900 depending upon the carrier. It is anticipated the costs will be approximately $1500 USD.
- Other costs include items such as, insurance $30, the Northern Michigan University and the Study Abroad Program fee $125, India Tourist Visa we are eligible for a group tourist visa which will save $
- If you take advantage of flat rate tuition, the cost of the class is zero (i.e., you register for 4 4 credit classes) this class is worth 2 credits, under Northern’s policy you pay the same for 18 credits as you do for 12.
