Internship announcement:

The Assistant Director of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program has personally has sent the NMU Geography Department the following information.

The HACU National Internship Program (t) is the country's largest Hispanic-centric internship program. The program matches talented college students to paid internship opportunities with the federal government and private corporations. Students do not need to be of Hispanic descent to apply to the program.

Currently, the HACU is anticipating that the Department of Agriculture will be requesting a number of interns with GIS knowledge and experience to work in the field with the Forest Service or the Farm Service Agency during the Spring of 2008. Being an alumna of NMU, I know that we have wonderful geography programs were the students learn GIS technology. I would love for some of these students to take advantage of this wonderful internship opportunities.

The Spring 2008 session will begin on Thursday, January 10 and end on April 26, 2008.

Interested students should e-mail me (fperera@hacu.net) their resume as soon as possible.

Note that in order to be eligible applicants the students will later have to provide official transcripts and a certification of enrollment.

I participated in this program when I was a student at Northern and it opened doors for me. I hope it will be able to do the same for other students in Marquette.

Thank you very much for your time and attention.

Sincerely,

Fabiana S. Perera
