Student Teaching Calendar Winter 2008

STUDENT TEACHING EXPERIENCE BEGINS with and follows the local school calendar for teachers, including holidays, rather than of Northern Michigan University.

Wednesday,    January 16 TEAC MEETING for supervising teachers and university supervisors, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., NMU Whitman Hall Commons.
Friday,             January 18 FIRST STUDENT TEACHER SEMINAR, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Friday,             January 25 FIRST PROGRESS REPORT DUE for all students.*
Wednesday, February 13 TEAC MEETING for supervising teachers and university supervisors, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., NMU Whitman Hall Commons.
Friday,           February 15 SECOND STUDENT TEACHER SEMINAR, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Friday,           February 22 LAST DAY OF SPLIT ASSIGNMENT.  MID-TERM EVALUATIONS DUE for all students.*
Monday,        February 25 FIRST DAY OF SECOND ASSIGNMENT for those with split placements.  (Please adjust the following report dates accordingly if students start later than this date.)
Wednesday, March 12 TEAC ALL-DAY MEETING for supervising teachers and university supervisors, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., NMU Whitman Hall Commons.
Friday,             March 14 THIRD STUDENT TEACHER SEMINAR, 9:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
Friday,             March 23 FIRST PROGRESS REPORT DUE only if student teacher has moved to a new placement for the second half of his/her student teaching.*
Thursday,         April 10 Student Teacher Self Evaluation and MDE Survey due for all students* (must be completed before final grade is given).
Wednesday,     April 16 TEAC FINAL MEETING for supervising teachers, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., NMU Whitman Hall Commons.
Friday,             April 18 FINAL STUDENT TEACHER SEMINAR, 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Friday,             April 18 FINAL EVALUATIONS by Supervising Teachers and University Supervisors DUE*. MDE Survey done by University Supervisors also due (link will be sent to you by email).
Wednesday,     April 23 LAST DAY OF STUDENT TEACHING EXPERIENCE unless you have time to make up. Optional evaluations due of University Supervisor and Supervising Teacher, please see web site.
Friday,             May 2 SCHOOL OF EDUCATION RECEPTION for student teachers and families and their supervising teachers, 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.  Invitations will be AVAILABLE AT SEMINAR.  Electronic invitations will be sent to on-line seminar students.
Saturday,          May 3 COMMENCEMENT
ED 223 Multicultural Education meets from 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. on same days as ED 450 Student Teaching Seminar. Locations for your classes and seminar can be found on your class schedule at My.NMU.edu.
