Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) Information

The PPST is a test of basic skills in reading, math, and writing.  It is required for students who do not have the necessary ACT (English=21; Math 20; Reading=21) or SAT (V=450; M=500) subscores (verification needed).

Registration for the paper-based PPST is done by completing the registration form found via the Internet at www.ets.org/praxis, or if you have taken a PPST previously, you can register by telephone (there is an additional fee of $35 for telephone registration).  2007-2008 test registration will be available after July 10, 2007.  PPST rates are $90 for one test, $130 for two, and $170 for three.  A one-time, non-refundable registration fee of $50 is included in these rates and covers all paper-based tests taken in the same testing year.  Your registration is not complete until you’ve submitted your payment and accessed your admission ticket.  You will need to print your admission ticket.  You will not be mailed a paper admission ticket when you register online.

Reporting time is 7:30 a.m. for Session I (Reading and Math) and 10:45 a.m. for Session 2 (Writing).

NMU offers the PPST 3 times a year. There are no computer based tests given on this campus.

NMU test dates for 2007-2008 are: November 17, 2007, January 12, 2008, and April 26, 2008.  Registration must be received by October 18, 2007, December 13, 2007, and March 27, 2008, respectively, or a late fee will be assessed.
