Scholarships

An anonymous donor established the Brown Economic Scholarship in 1999 to benefit Northern Michigan University students majoring in economics.

The award’s criteria include:

  • preference to graduates of Upper Peninsula high schools;
  • minimum grade point average of 3.00; and
  • sophomore, junior or senior standing.

The application deadline for NMU Foundation scholarships (those provided by private gifts to the university) is usually the first Friday in February. Current NMU students are contacted via e-mail to their university account, alerting them to the application process timeline each year.
