Steven Snowaert is an adjunct  instructor for the Criminal Justice Department. He is currently employed as the detective/sergeant with the Marquette Police Department. He received his Bachelor’s degree from NMU in 1985, majoring in Law Enforcement with a minor in Mathematics. D/Sgt. Snowaert received his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from NMU in 1999. He is a graduate of the NMU Regional Police Academy in 1983. After the Academy he was hired by the NMU Public Safety and Police Services Department and was employed there until 1988 when he was hired by the Marquette Police Department. He was promoted to detective in 1998.

D/Sgt. Snowaert has extensive law enforcement training and has been an instructor in several areas of law enforcement including precision driving, firearms, and CPR and first aid. He has received extensive training in the area of computer crimes and computer forensic analysis. He is very active in the community as a member of the Exchange Club of Marquette County, where he was president for two years and served as a District President of the National Exchange Club. He is currently on the board of the Upper Peninsula Criminal Justice Association, President of the Upper Michigan Law Enforcement Association, and on the board of the Marquette Police/Fire Pension System.
