Please Read This If You Intend To Register For Classes For Next Semester

Advising for the winter 2010 semester starts October 26.

Who is My Adviser? If you do not know who your advisor is, visit the who is my adviser page.

Advising Appointments: Additional advising times have been set aside for you to meet with your adviser for the weeks of October 26-30 and November 2-6. The majority of these additional advising times are early in the week. Please contact the department secretary (906) 227-2660 to schedule a time to meet with your adviser. If you are a Loss Prevention Management student, you need to contact Bob Hanson bhanson@nmu.edu or call (906)227-1783.

Advising Sheet: You are required to update your advising sheet and have it available when meeting with your adviser to discuss your degree requirements. Please download your appropriate interactive advising sheet from our departmental forms page, and then save it to your computer. Continue to update it each semester. Be sure to include your current classes, but leave the grade blank.

Important! 200-Level CJ Electives: In addition to the CJ core courses, students who are going for their Bachelor in Criminal Justice degree, only need to take one, 200-Level CJ elective course to fulfill the requirements of the major. If you take more than one 200-level CJ elective course, it will count in your General Elective area.

Advising Process: You are responsible for reviewing the advising process which is explained in quick easy steps. This important resource explains the advising process and assists you in preparing to register for courses. It also explains when you are eligible to register.

Adviser Hold: If you have an adviser hold, you must meet face-to-face with your adviser to have it removed. Only your assigned adviser can remove your hold. Your hold will not be removed over the phone or via e-mail (unless you are a LPM student). After the advising week, your adviser will only be available during their regularly scheduled office hours, so please schedule your appointment soon! Be sure to check if you have any other holds, such as Financial, medical or academic, and contact the respective office to have it removed.
