Students for Organ Donation

Organization Information: Students for Organ Donation promotes awareness of organ donation around campus and in the community. Although the chapter is part of a national organization, the group hopes to spread the message of organ donation by educating the local area. It has been shown that most Americans are willing to donate their organs, but do not. A goal of NMU's SOD is to help individuals carry out their organ donation wishes in the correct manner, and reduce the difference between the number of prospective and actual donors. NMU's chapter of SOD was started in January of 2005 and is part of the national organization.

Activities:

• registering donors during the Gift of Life University Challenge
• presentations to inform the campus about organ donation, and National Student Donate Life week (usually in April).
• Help at the Wellness Run/Walk and a benefit sport tournament, such as volleyball or basketball. New members and ideas are always welcome so feel free to contact us!
