The participants will become familiar with motorcycle rules and regulations. There are approximately 20 hours of instruction - 8 classroom hours and 12 on the range. Motorcycles (400 ccs or less) are provided for all the BRC classes. The BRC classes start on the Friday evening at 6p.m. unless noted otherwise on the site page. The Performance Based Course, a one-day class, is held on a Saturday, May 10, 2008. The class meets from 8a.m. to 6p.m. and is divided between class and range hours. Many experienced licensed riders use this course as a refresher and skills tune-up. Topics include braking, counter steering, turning, speed judgment, and other techniques necessary for the experienced rider to operate a motorcycle skillfully and safely. All students take an entry skills riding test covering the riding exercises used in the Secretary of State Motorcycle Skills Test. If a student under 18 years of age fails this riding skills test, the student must enroll in the Basic Rider Course and pay another $25 fee. Class fees are non-transferable. Students must furnish their own cycle with a clutch (no scooters.) Sharing motorcycles is not allowed. All students MUST provide proof of insurance and registration for the cycle. The cycle must pass a safety inspection prior to taking the riding skills test. If the cycle is not owned by the rider then proof of permission to ride the cycle must be presented. All times are local times.
