Courses for Educators

Graduate and undergraduate courses are offered on campus, online and in local communities to meet a variety of needs. Graduate-level courses for teachers continuing certification are offered at locations throughout the Upper Peninsula in partnership with Intermediate School District.

Course Listing

Decoding and Encoding: Multi-Sensory Approach for Teaching Reading and Spelling.

This course will consist of 54 hours of theory, instruction, observation, practice, and evaluation designed to prepare elementary teachers to present student-centered reading and spelling instruction that incorporates an Orton-Gillingham based approach. Details

 

Appraisal Education Program

NMU offers a full range of residential and non-residential appraisal courses. In addition to licensure classes, NMU has continuing education courses around the state. Northern’s goal, with the help of the Michigan Association of Real Estate Appraisers, is to continue to provide appraisers with quality educational opportunities that are convenient and affordable.
