The College of Business has many special student program opportunities, which can enhance their experience beyond textbook learning. Check out these current and recent past projects:
New Business Venture Competition – Open to all NMU students in 2009-10. Students will compete as teams of two to five members to develop a business plan that will be demonstrated before a panel of judges. Cash prizes range from $2,000 to $5,000.
The Superior Fund – In fall 2006, NMU’s College of Business began operating the student-managed investment fund, named the Superior Fund. The fund started with an initial sum of $200,000 and realized a profit in its first year.
Student-created Township Web sites – Students involved in computer information systems courses were asked in 2006 to develop Web sites for 13 townships in the State of Michigan.
Student-created Business Web sites – Members of the computer information systems courses CIS 415: Systems Development Project created Web sites for area and statewide businesses, organizations and townships. Among the students’ clients: Northern Center for Lifelong Learning, Marquette Women’s Center, United Way and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
