child reading The reading scores and math scores at Burton Glen PSA dramatically improved in the last year.  The administration, faculty and staff have worked extremely hard to improve scores and their effort has been successful.  Reading scores improved by 29% and math scores by 17%.  The goal is to continue this trend.  View reading scores  View math scores
Larissa Nah Tah Wahsh senior Larissa Wandahsega was selected the 2007 National Indian Student of the Year by the National Indian School Board Association. Larissa, who loves to write poetry and stories, is an honor student with a 3.50 grade point average. She is a volleyball player, on the student council, an art award recipient and a member of the Hannahville Indian Community Youth Advisory Council. Full story

JKL Bahweting Open House

After an extensive expansion project an open house was held at JKL Bahweting Nov. 28.  The new addition was visited by board members, tribal members, parents and students.  A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with Tribal Chair Aaron Payment, an NMU graduate, cutting the ribbon assisted by representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and students.  After the ceremony, cake and punch were served and teachers were available in their classrooms to greet those who wanted to tour the building.


Students visit Washington D.C.


Burton Glen's 8th grade students take class trip to Washington D.C.  An important part of the academy's mission & vision statement is "to better educate more children".  Burton Glen believes this field trip provides real world application for their students..
