Possible Real World Edge Hours

Brookridge Heights, an assisted-living facility, is looking for volunteers to help with their new program that will work with our upcoming Memory Care community.  As a Memory Care volunteer, volunteers will spend your time one-on-one with residents dealing with dementia and Alzheimer’s.  You will also be able to stay up on community news and get updates as to the resident progress and all of our community events through our Memory Care page on Facebook.  That way if a volunteer isn’t here for a week you don’t have any surprises when you come back.

The Memory Care program we are adapting comes from similar communities in California that are owned by the same company that currently manages us.  This volunteer program is the only organized program in the country that works directly with Alzheimer’s and dementia and has gotten quite a bit of national attention.

Unfortunately, our memory care community will not actually be finished until February-March which is when we will be kicking this program off in its full capacity.  If anyone is interested in this type of work, we can tailor their current volunteer opportunities around the current residents that are affected by Alzheimer’s.  For more information, please contact Paul Guindon, activities and events coordinator, at 906-869-4120.
